Did you know that Emma Stone isn’t really Emma Stone? Yep, that’s right. The actress we all know and love has a secret: her real name is Emily Stone.
Last week, the talented star, who has snagged not one, but two Oscars, spilled the beans during an interview with her co-star Nathan Fielder. Fielder spilled even more tea, announcing he’d be calling her Emily from now on, just like her closest pals do.

But why the switcheroo? Well, it turns out that back when Stone was just starting out in the biz, she registered with the Screen Actors Guild as Riley Stone. But as fate would have it, there was already another Riley Stone in the mix. Cue the panic.
So, what’s a budding actress to do? Change her name, of course. And thus, Emma Stone was born. But deep down, Emily Stone never really left. Stone confessed she’s always had a soft spot for her original name.
“It’s just because my name was taken,” she explained. “Then I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.'”
And it seems she’s serious about the switch. Stone expressed how nice it would be if her fans used her real name. “I would like to be Emily,” she declared.
But hey, who can blame her for wanting to reclaim her true identity? After all, she’s not the only one. Stars like Diane Keaton (originally Diane Hall), Nicolas Cage (formerly Nicholas Coppola), and Ashton Kutcher (born Christopher Ashton Kutcher) have all undergone name makeovers for Hollywood.
So, whether you call her Emma or Emily, one thing’s for sure: she’s still the same talented actress we all adore.
