Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei recently attended an event in Tsim Sha Tsui, where he gave updates on his fiancée, 36-year-old Chris Wong. Wong, whose real name is Wang Qingxia, was arrested in February for allegedly overstaying her residency in Hong Kong.
The Chinese national is currently in custody and facing seven charges, including overstaying, making false statements to obtain an entry permit, and more. Her case is set to be revisited on May 28.
“She’s starting to feel better. I visit her every day. Things are better now. It’s called acceptance,” Lee told the media.
Lee shared that although his sleep has improved, he still feels a heavy weight on his chest. He previously revealed on an online talk show that he had trouble sleeping after his fiancée’s arrest. “We don’t know what’s going to happen. Of course, I’m doing my best to help her as much as I can. I hope this burden will be lifted soon,” he said.
Lee described the wait for Wong’s final verdict as “painful.” When asked if he has mentally prepared himself for Wong’s judgment, Lee admitted it’s a difficult question to answer. “Everything is uncertain at the moment. Although we will do our best, court matters are unpredictable. I’m also praying to the gods for help,” he said.
Lee and Wong’s relationship first came to light in 2020 when Hong Kong media reported that Wong, who was carrying Lee’s child, suffered a miscarriage. Despite the significant age difference, the couple has maintained a stable relationship due to shared interests.
Earlier in February, Lee told the media that he will continue standing by Wong despite her controversies and that their marriage vows will remain unchanged.
