Tax Season: A List of Approved Things To Claim For Tax Relief

The time of year of tax season is here again! Understandably, many workers may find this time of year stressful, especially if it is their first time doing taxes.

Moreover, knowing that we can claim for tax relief, we will no doubt urge to get the most amount of tax relief possible. And anyway, who wants to pay more tax than necessary?

With that in mind, here is the list of the approved things to claim for tax relief to help all the first-timers make the most out of this tax season.

  • Medical expenses for serious diseases, vaccination expenses for self, spouse or child
  • Medical expenses for fertility treatment
  • Complete medical mental health examination for self, spouse, or child(including Covid-19 detection test expenses, e.g RTK/PCR tests)

Up to RM8,000(total relief for all medical expenses listed by LHDN)

Lifestyle

Purchase of reading materials, electronics, sports equipment, internet subscription for self, spouse or child

Up to RM2,500

Expenses related to sports activity, including purchase of sports equipment, rental/entrance fees to sports facility, and registration fee for sports competition

Up to RM500

Purchase, installation or rental of electric vehicle(EV) charging equipment for personal use

Up to RM2,500

(Special) Purchase of personal computer, smartphone or tablet for self, spouse, or child

(Special) Tourist accommodation, attraction or tour package
