Hari Raya Goodies: Extra Public Holidays, Free 4-Day Tolls and EV Charging

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced measures to ease the financial burden of Malaysians ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.

The government will waive all toll charges on the country’s 33 highways for four days from April 19-21 and on April 24 to enable people to travel home to their loved ones. Highway users still need to pay toll fares on the weekend proper, April 22nd and 23rd.

The toll waiver initiative is expected to cost the government around RM93 million. The move affects 33 tolled highways, with the largest highway operator Plus Malaysia expecting two million vehicles to use its network daily during Hari Raya, 20% higher than on normal days.

In addition, Malaysians can enjoy free direct current (DC) electric vehicle (EV) charging at selected charging stations for four days from April 19-21 and April 24. This initiative encourages Malaysians to use eco-friendly vehicles and contribute to a sustainable future.

These initiatives will go a long way in easing the financial burden of Malaysians during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities, allowing them to celebrate the festival with their loved ones more affordably and sustainably. To take advantage of these initiatives, Malaysians must ensure that they comply with the regulations and use valid Touch ‘n Go card, SmartTAG, or RFID tag when passing through the tolls.
