SEE: Prince William Dances to ‘Shake It Off’ at Taylor Swift’s London Concert

American pop sensation Taylor Swift kicked off the London leg of her The Eras Tour with a bang, captivating fans and even royalty. On June 22, Britain’s Prince William shared a backstage selfie on social media, taken after attending Swift’s concert at Wembley Stadium on June 21 with his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to celebrate his 42nd birthday. “Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening,” William wrote.

Swift seemed just as thrilled, posting a photo with the three royals and her boyfriend, American football star Travis Kelce. This marked the first official social media appearance of Swift and Kelce together. “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start,” she shared on social media.

A viral video captured Prince William, the heir to the throne, dancing energetically to Swift’s hit single “Shake It Off,” delighting fans worldwide. Among the nearly 90,000 fans at the concert was Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, who attended with his wife, Victoria Alexander. Starmer, potentially Britain’s next prime minister, praised Swift’s performance, saying, “She was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.” Although he admitted not knowing every song, he highlighted “Change” as a favorite, aligning with his campaign slogan.

Swift is currently touring Britain as part of the European leg of her Eras Tour. After her three London shows from June 21 to 23, she will return to the British capital in August for five more concerts. She has already performed in Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Cardiff, with Dublin as her next destination.

The London Mayor’s office announced that Swift’s eight Eras Tour performances in London would generate £300 million for the city’s economy. To celebrate the tour, London Mayor Sadiq Khan unveiled several murals dedicated to Swift and a special Tube map with stations named after her songs on June 20.

The Eras Tour has been a significant cultural event, drawing fans and celebrities alike, and contributing substantially to local economies with each performance. Taylor Swift’s ability to connect with audiences across the globe continues to solidify her status as a pop icon.
