Flood Update: Terengganu Leads in Evacuees as Selangor and Pahang See Rises

Floods continue to affect several Malaysian states, with Terengganu recording the highest number of evacuees. As of midday today, 5,009 people from 1,488 families are staying at 77 temporary relief centres (PPS), according to the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

Terengganu: All Districts Affected

Flood numbers in Terengganu jumped from 4,191 this morning to 5,009 at noon, impacting all eight districts. Highlights include:

  • Kemaman: 1,720 evacuees at 21 PPS
  • Marang: 1,316 evacuees
  • Setiu: 1,113 evacuees
  • Dungun, Kuala Terengganu, Besut & Hulu Terengganu: smaller but growing numbers
  • Kuala Nerus: 25 evacuees recently sent to two PPS

Since the floods began on Nov 22, 15 roads have been closed or restricted, and water levels at several rivers have surpassed danger levels.

Selangor: More Areas Affected

In Selangor, evacuees rose to 2,904 people from 770 families, with Klang, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Sepang, and Kuala Langat affected.
20 PPS are operating across the state. Rising water has also forced the closure of the Sepang–Jenderam road, and flooding was reported near the Kiwa traffic lights.

Pahang: Numbers Nearly Double

Pahang saw evacuees increase from 486 this morning to 952 people (301 families). The most affected districts are:

  • Kuantan: 381
  • Raub: 241
  • Maran: 209
  • Lipis: 121

Other States

  • Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, and Kedah recorded slightly fewer evacuees.
  • Melaka opened a PPS at SK Masjid Tanah for 20 evacuees after heavy rain.
  • Negeri Sembilan now has three PPS, sheltering 117 people.

Authorities continue to monitor rainfall, river levels, and evacuation needs, urging residents to stay alert as the situation remains unpredictable.
