Singer Christine Fan Applauds Husband Blackie Chen’s Courage Amid Scandal

Taiwanese singer Christine Fan is standing firmly by her husband, television host Blackie Chen, amid controversy.

Fan, 48, took to social media on June 21, following the P. League+ final held on June 20, to express her unwavering support. The P. League+, a Taiwanese men’s professional basketball league, was founded by Chen, 47, in 2020. He served as its chief executive until 2023 and now holds the position of deputy commissioner.

Chen found himself at the center of Taiwan’s #MeToo scandal in June 2023 when actress Tina Chou accused him of sexual harassment dating back to 2012, allegations he has denied.

In a heartfelt message addressed to Chen, Fan wrote in Chinese, “Thank you, big baby, for persevering through all the obstacles for four years and devoting so much time and effort to Taiwanese basketball.” She continued, “I hope River and Ryan can be like their father when they grow up, being able to move forward bravely with firm belief and the courage to face hatred in whatever they do.” Fan reassured Chen of her unwavering support, saying, “No matter what happens, remember that you have the strongest backing from your whole family. So proud of you.”

Fan, also known as Fan Fan, shared several family photos taken at Taoyuan Arena, featuring Chen and their nine-year-old twin sons. She also congratulated the New Taipei Kings for their first championship title, achieved after defeating the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots 103-97 in overtime, securing a 4-1 victory in the best-of-seven series.

While many netizens praised Fan for her unconditional love and support, others voiced their hopes that Chen would take responsibility for his actions and set a good example for his sons.

Although Fan has since deleted her second post from Facebook, it remains visible on her Instagram account. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
