[KUALA LUMPUR] Commuters on the Kelana Jaya LRT line faced delays today. A power outage at Universiti station caused a train to stop abruptly. As a result, passengers remained stranded on the tracks for about 20 minutes. Rapid KL staff then moved them to another train.

The morning service returned to normal at 10:25 AM. However, an evening disruption also occurred later that day. Therefore, this busy rail line is once again under the public spotlight.

The Incident: A Loud Boom And A Sudden Stop

The train was traveling from Taman Jaya to Universiti station. Suddenly, a passenger heard a loud boom. Consequently, the train stopped immediately. Several people lost their balance and fell.

Meanwhile, many passengers called the Rapid KL emergency hotline. The train sat motionless for 20 minutes. Afterward, staff guided the passengers across the tracks to a rescue train.

Service Restoration: Back To Normal By 10:25 AM

Rapid KL posted an update on X. They confirmed that a power outage at Universiti station caused the delay. Fortunately, crews fixed the issue quickly. Therefore, full service resumed at 10:25 AM.

Later that evening, another power failure hit the Kerinchi area. Repair crews finished their work by 8:30 PM. Thus, the system fully recovered by 8:36 PM, ending an 80-minute disruption.
