Malaysia’s National Day – Bernama
Good news, Malaysia! In conjunction with Merdeka Day 2025 (31 August), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a special one-off RM100 cash aid for every Malaysian aged 18 and above. This initiative is part of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme and aims to ease living costs while spreading the Merdeka spirit.

-
For every adult citizen – Whether you’re single, married, or living with family, everyone 18+ gets RM100 each. A household with four adults means RM400 total!
-
Valid spending period – The cash aid can be used from 31 August until 31 December 2025 at participating outlets such as Mydin, Lotus’s, Econsave, 99Speedmart, and many more.
-
Unused balance returns to community – Any amount not spent will be channelled back to help targeted groups in 2026, so nothing goes to waste.
This move is a first in Malaysian history, where cash aid is extended to all adult citizens without income limits. The government has allocated around RM2 billion for this initiative, bringing the total STR + SARA budget for 2025 to a massive RM15 billion.
