Good news, Malaysia! In conjunction with Merdeka Day 2025 (31 August), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a special one-off RM100 cash aid for every Malaysian aged 18 and above. This initiative is part of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme and aims to ease living costs while spreading the Merdeka spirit.

Key Highlights of the RM100 Merdeka Aid

  • Automatic credit to MyKad – No registration, no forms. Just use your MyKad as usual, and the RM100 balance will be there.

  • For every adult citizen – Whether you’re single, married, or living with family, everyone 18+ gets RM100 each. A household with four adults means RM400 total!

  • Valid spending period – The cash aid can be used from 31 August until 31 December 2025 at participating outlets such as Mydin, Lotus’s, Econsave, 99Speedmart, and many more.

  • Unused balance returns to community – Any amount not spent will be channelled back to help targeted groups in 2026, so nothing goes to waste.

This move is a first in Malaysian history, where cash aid is extended to all adult citizens without income limits. The government has allocated around RM2 billion for this initiative, bringing the total STR + SARA budget for 2025 to a massive RM15 billion.

So, mark your calendars and get ready to tap into this Merdeka bonus. Whether it’s groceries, daily essentials, or simply easing your monthly budget, that RM100 is a little boost to celebrate our nation’s independence together.

Merdeka 2025 just got even more meaningful. Don’t forget to use your MyKad and claim your share!
