  1. Sleek, Pill-Shaped Camera System:
    • Industry leaks reveal a sleek, pill-shaped camera system.
    • This new design will support 3D ‘spatial video’ for playback on Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset.
  2. New Camera Alignment:
    • The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will feature vertically stacked cameras.
    • This is a shift from the current diagonal layout, last updated with the iPhone 13 in 2021.
  3. Enhanced Camera Functionality:
    • The two-camera setup will cover Wide and Ultrawide fields of view.
    • This alignment allows simultaneous footage capture, providing depth and a lifelike viewing experience.

  1. Triangular Camera Arrangement:
    • The iPhone 16 Pro models will retain a triangular camera setup.
    • This design is aimed at delivering superior 3D video quality.
  2. Improved Ultra-Wide Angle Lens:
    • All iPhone 16 models will feature a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
    • This enhancement will boost spatial video recording capabilities.
  3. Advanced Telephoto Lens:
    • The Pro models will include a 5x telephoto lens.
    • This addition will improve detailed spatial videos, even from a distance.

Additional Camera Enhancements

  1. Anti-Glare Lens Coating:
    • The new cameras will have a redesigned anti-glare coating using the ‘atomic layer deposition’ (ALD) technique.
    • This will address the long-standing ‘ghosting’ issue, improving photo and video clarity.
  2. New Capture Button:
    • A new ‘capture’ button will be introduced on the iPhone 16, allowing quicker camera access from the lock screen.

Potential Size Changes

  • Leaked prototypes suggest the iPhone 16 Pro will be 6.3 inches, a notable increase from the 6.1 inches of the previous model.

While Apple has yet to officially confirm these changes, the leaks and prototypes provide an exciting glimpse into the future of iPhone photography. The company is expected to reveal the new iPhone 16 models at their annual September event. Stay tuned for more updates on this major camera redesign and other innovative features.
