Yamila Zacarias, a 25-year-old fan, was among the mourners. She shared how One Direction came into her life at a pivotal time, offering her a sense of belonging during her teenage years. “My family worked hard to help me see them when they came to Argentina, but I couldn’t go because we didn’t have enough money then,” she said. “This is the first time I’ve ever been able to applaud him.”

Another fan, Violeta Antier, rushed to the hotel upon hearing the news from her sister. “I saw him just two weeks ago at a Niall Horan concert here in Buenos Aires,” she said, recalling how Payne seemed fine when she last saw him.

Liam Payne rose to international fame as a member of One Direction, one of the most successful boy bands in history, alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. Formed on The X Factor in 2010, the group went on to sell 70 million records worldwide before disbanding in 2016 to pursue solo careers.

While Payne’s musical achievements are undeniable, he had also been open about his struggles with mental health and alcohol, sharing his journey with fans through social media. His final moments in Argentina included joyful posts about horseback riding and looking forward to reuniting with his dog.
