This year’s Hari Raya anthem has undoubtedly become “Alamak Raya Lagi” by Malaysian girl group De Fam.

The catchy tune has not only captured the hearts of locals but also gained international attention, catching the eyes of South Korean girl group Tri.Be and Indian actor Santhosh Prathap. Now, it’s even reached the popular Japanese dance group Avantgardey.

In a recent Instagram Reel, three members of the 20-member dance team can be seen grooving to the infectious Raya beat. The video quickly went viral, garnering over 3.2 million views and 111,000 likes at the time of writing.

Azira Shafinaz, one of the singers behind the track, expressed her delight at the trio’s performance, thanking them with a heartfelt “Love it! Arigato Gozaimasu (Thank you).”

The buzz around the song isn’t just limited to social media. Malaysians are buzzing too, thrilled that a local Raya song is making waves abroad.

The track “Alamak Raya Lagi” was inspired by the surprise Hari Raya of 2022 when celebrations unexpectedly arrived a day earlier than expected. Originally set for release in 2023, the song got delayed due to the group’s other commitments. But when it finally premiered on YouTube on March 8, it quickly racked up over 16.7 million views.

Azira, sharing her excitement about the song’s success, expressed gratitude to their supporters, saying, “Alhamdulillah, this song has gone viral even outside the country, which we never expected at all.”

Formed in 2015, De Fam comprises Azira, Cik Manggis, and Sophia Liana, and their journey from local sensations to international recognition is a testament to their talent and hard work.
