Michelle Yeoh: The First Ever Asian To Win Oscar Best Actress

Michelle Yeoh’s historic win at the 95th Academy Awards Oscar as the first ever Asian to win Best Actress is a major milestone not just for her, but for the entire Asian community in the entertainment industry.

The Malaysian-born actress’ victory for Best Actress in a huge film award for her exceptional performance in “Everything, Everywhere All at Once” has not only made Malaysia proud but hopefully will also pave the way for Asians to showcase their talent in the film industry.

“For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities, this is proof that dreams come true. And ladies…never let anybody tell you that you are past your prime.”

Michelle Yeoh gave an inspiring acceptance speech at the Oscars to encourage young Asian talents and empower women’s representation in the industry.

Michelle Yeoh’s outstanding achievements extend beyond her historic win at the Oscars. She has also made waves at the Golden Globe Awards, where she won the Best Actress in a Motion Picture award, and was honored with the Best Actress trophy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards just a few weeks earlier this year.

Yeoh’s win is a step in the right direction towards more diverse representation in the film industry. Following the historic win of Everything Everywhere All at Once where they bagged 7 awards, including best actress and best picture, it is possible that we may see a shift in more opportunities for Asians to showcase their talent on the big screen.

What are your thoughts on this? Will this pave the way for Asians talents on the international stage?
