In a sensational transfer, Neymar has waved goodbye to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and embraced a new chapter with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. The deal, which comes with a jaw-dropping annual salary of £129.4 million pounds, has shaken the football world.

Neymar, the illustrious Brazil forward at 31, embarks on a new adventure in the Gulf state, joining Al Hilal on a two-year contract. This move follows the footsteps of football icons like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mane who have sought new horizons in the oil-rich Middle East.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the fresh journey, Neymar stated, “I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places,”

Neymar’s departure from PSG concludes a six-year spell in the French capital, characterized by highs and lows. He now aims to leave his mark on the Saudi Pro League with Al Hilal, driven by the vibrant energy and quality players of the league.

The Brazilian star praised Al Hilal, referring to it as a “giant club with fantastic fans.” He emphasized his eagerness to continue winning and scoring goals, further solidifying his legacy.

Neymar’s journey into Al Hilal’s ranks follows his remarkable stint with PSG, where he was transferred from Barcelona in 2017 for a world-record fee of US$242 million. The forward, known for his incredible skills, scored 118 goals in 173 matches for PSG, contributing to five Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups.

While PSG’s achievements during Neymar’s tenure included reaching the 2020 Champions League final, his journey was hampered by injuries, leaving fans to ponder what could have been. Despite the challenges, his undeniable talent and charisma left a lasting impact.

The move to Al Hilal, renowned as one of Saudi Arabia’s premier football clubs, signifies a new phase in Neymar’s storied career. With his arrival, he joins the ranks of global stars who have embraced fresh experiences and opportunities in the Middle East. The football world watches with anticipation as Neymar writes his next chapter in the Saudi Pro League.
