Sophia Albarakbah Embraces Action Roles: ‘Risky But I’m All In!’

Sophia Albarakbah is ready to break free from her usual roles of playing gentle and sweet characters. The actress dreams of taking on action-packed and rugged roles to showcase her versatility.

“I really want to dive into intense, action-packed roles and portray epic characters. These are roles I haven’t tried yet, but if given the opportunity, I will definitely give it my all,” Sophia shared on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia, where she promoted her latest movie, Saka Perawan, directed by Dr. Ahmad Idham.

In Saka Perawan, Sophia plays a comical ghost, a departure from her previous role as a ‘normal’ ghost. She believes that more challenging roles would be incredibly interesting and is eager to take them on.

Sophia, of Arab, Malay, and Chinese descent, is prepared to face any challenge to ensure she performs her action roles well. “I won’t deny that action roles come with risks, but once I accept the challenge, I will do my best. Although it’s challenging, it will be an exciting experience,” she said. She recounted a close call during filming when a rope snapped while she was doing a flying scene, but the crew’s quick action ensured her safety.

Sophia, who gained fame as Cahaya Malaika in the drama Suamiku Lelaki Pendosa, also aspires to win the Best Actress award someday. “It may not be in the near future, but maybe one day. Every actor has this dream. Give me some time to improve the quality of my acting,” she said. Currently, she is taking acting classes and working closely with directors to hone her skills.

Regarding recent controversies, Sophia has chosen to put them aside and focus on her career. “I am concentrating on improving my acting skills and letting my work speak for itself,” she concluded. – Bernama
