Zayn Malik recently opened up about his experiences with online dating apps, specifically Tinder, in an interview with Nylon. The singer-songwriter, who rose to fame as a member of One Direction, revealed that his attempts at using dating apps have not been very successful.
“I tried using Tinder, but it didn’t work out well for me,” Malik admitted. “People kept accusing me of catfishing, thinking I was impersonating myself. They’d say, ‘Why are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures?’ and I got kicked off the platform a couple of times.”
Frustrated with these misunderstandings, Malik has decided to take a break from the search for romance. “I’m really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life,” he shared.
Reflecting on his past relationships, Malik noted that he had been in serious relationships from a young age. He was previously engaged to Perrie Edwards from Little Mix and later had a high-profile relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid, with whom he shares a daughter. Looking back, he realized he might not have fully understood what he was getting into.
“From 17 to 21, I was in a relationship and even engaged. I thought I knew everything because I was 21 and legally allowed to do everything, but I didn’t know much at all,” Malik recalled. “Then from 21 to 27, I was with Gi, and we had a child. I didn’t take much time to get to know myself. It’s wise to take your time before you fully invest in another person as a lifelong partner.”
Malik gained fame after participating in The X Factor in 2010, where he became a member of One Direction. He left the group in 2015, just before the remaining members announced an indefinite hiatus. Now, all five members, including Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, are pursuing solo careers in music.
